United States of America: Program Coordinator, TechWomen

Sponsored by the US Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, TechWomen empowers, connects, and supports the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa, the Middle East, and Central and South Asia. During the five-week program, up to 100 participants engage in project-based mentorships at leading companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and Silicon Valley, participate in professional development workshops and events, and travel to Washington, DC for targeted meetings and special events at the U.S. Department of State.

The Program Coordinator supports program implementation by developing and preparing written program materials, and supporting program data collection and reporting. Work is carried out under general supervision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and prepares supporting materials for program activities and events.
  • Supports the implementation of TechWomen work plan, including assisting in outreach, application processing and participating selection, mentor selection, and event planning.
  • Tracks and reports on relevant program statistics throughout the program life cycle, including by implementing surveys and evaluations, compiling and analyzing data, and supporting reporting on program metrics.
  • Communicates with a range of stakeholders on programmatic issues, including grantees, mentors, and host company representatives.
  • Responsible for complying with applicable contract and sponsor requirements and following all IIE policies and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties and functions as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • BA/BS in International Education/Development/Relations or related field
  • At least one year of related professional experience; preferably in an internationally-oriented organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to complete highly detailed, deadline-driven tasks which require well-developed organizational, time-management and administrative skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff and external contacts; sensitive to cultural differences when working with people from other cultures; and ability to exercise discretion on confidential matters and to demonstrate sound judgment in consulting with and keeping others informed.
  • Ability to easily adapt to changing organizational, program and sponsor needs and a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to compare and evaluate possible courses of action and recommend or decide appropriate course of action.
  • Proficiency with web-based and MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with additional platforms or software (Salesforce, survey tools, etc.) a plus
